The following activity is fun for the entire family and exercises everyone's mind at the same time. It can develop family members' ability to pay attention, coordinate fine motor skills, and strengthen the processing of visual and spatial information. These abilities are important for academic learning, pursuing art and sports, and problem solving at work. You can do this activity together as a family and have fun seeing the different types of pictures each member draws from the same still life.
Drawing the Negative
Step 1: Setup a display of still life. It can be a combination of pots, pans, vases, fruits, sticks.
Step 2: Instead of drawing these objects, draw what you see around the objects and shade outside them, leaving the actual still life objects blank in their drawing page.
